I've run across this three times in the past six weeks or so.
We get a call from a customer saying that their scan to email isn't working. They use a Gmail account set up for the copier to send the emails (i.e. "copier.acme.co@gmail.com").
I would check the DNS settings and SMTP settings to make sure nothing has changed on the network and even with all those correct, the scans would fail from the copier. I would then log into the copier's Gmail account using a web browser to confirm that the password hasn't changed. After logging into the Gmail account, the scans would then start going through, even though I had made no changes to any network/SMTP settings on the copier.
All three of these Gmail accounts had not been visited in probably over a year. Only one of them had more than 3-4 unread emails (bounce-backs from badly-inputted emails).
Just seems like Google refused to take any more emails from these accounts until they were logged into.
Just a heads up in case you run across this.
